Unless server is like 1x or 2x almost no one play PQ. Only true for the hardcore old school server. Unless we strictly talking about right at BB. Not to mention current maple has infinitely more maps than pre bb. Every maple is listed on hidden street and most people know exactly where to go and what the hot spots are. There isn't any merit now either, this isn't 2007. I’m probably biased though, probably still a lot of nostalgic feelings left.

More focus on pq means natural player interaction. Less complicated enhancement system means the game economy is more accessible. I always liked how Maplestory was about the journey not the end and I get that more from pre-bb. More maps means more exploration and slower leveling means more reason to find the ultimate spot. But I still play pre-bb servers over post-bb servers so why is that? I don’t have any prior attachment to both of those so it shouldn’t really matter, right? What about pre-bb content is more enjoyable to me than post-bb? So originally my dislike for post-bb came a lot from my attachment to pre-bb. It was a game I no longer recognised and it felt like a big middle finger to the older player base.

In a short amount of time they changed a lot. Lots of changes to the world I got so familiar with for a long time. I felt bad because all the news jobs did more damage with less effort and had more utility.īecause leveling got easier my pre-bb achievements suddenly felt less impressive.Ī new p2w complicated item enhancement system I didn’t like. the main aspect of pre-BB maple that servers try to preserve is the ability to meet other players, play with them, chat, and have a good time. I'm not sure if any pre-BB servers have added post-BB content that ruins player-interaction focused gameplay. This content such as bosses, new areas, questlines help keep the game more interesting/playable. Throwing on a "shit ton of post-bb" content is mostly to make up for the lack of pre-bb game content and unbalanced skills. "High" damage and levels were actually respected since it took SO much real world timeīB made damage and high levels not that impressiveīB was also around the time potentials/cubing was released, and nobody likes p2w content Once they started adding overpowered classes relative to the 5 original explorers, it went downhill There were only 5 classes, each of which were pretty unique.īB did do a better job at making the classes early levels more enjoyable/balanced I think PQs slowly began to die down, and map KSing/hogging became more problematic? It was more interesting to PQ and interact with players than it was to solo grind.īB made it much easier to level, so solo grinding became more popular. It took much longer to level and progress, so a lot of players had a tendency to stay around the same level range and do the same type of content, which led to more p2p interaction.

Can explore larger maps and "discover the maple world"īB shrunk them all and removed hidden maps, so it's easier to navigate, and there's not much merit to exploring the game
