If he would have just gone off and slit his wrist in a corner somewhere, leaving Reimi in charge, I would have enjoyed the rest of the game much more, I’m sure. You pick up a new party member, Edge gets all butt-hurt for the next 10 hours of story, brooding around spatting at anyone and anything because he blew up a planet. Throughout the entire rest of the game you will be sitting there wondering what the hell you just spent those two or three hours of game play on the alternate Earth accomplishing. The Calnus and crew escape, picking up an extra member, another main playable character, the cat-lady Meracle. Edge Maverick, hands over the power source of the Calnus, the crazy lady who runs the base uses it in her big machine and destroys the entire planet. is being depicted as a Nazi-like government or something. That town has a military base in it and, to make a long story short, they do scientific testing on aliens to find a power source strong enough to ensure that they will conquer the world. You land your ship in what appears to be the Southwest U.S., and explore this poor excuse for a town. It isn’t the earth of the present, the year is 1947 (if I remember correctly). On the other side of this black hole is an alternate-reality Earth. We are dealing with a work of fiction here, after all. Let’s suspend belief for now and imagine that that is even possible. About 20 hours into the game (give or take), you’ll run into a horrible sci-fi cliché, your ship, the Calnus, and its entire crew, will be tossed through a black hole and spewed out on the other side.

Let’s look at an example, and I’ll give a spoiler warning here, as I will mention a few story points, but because they hardly relate to the game’s main plot at all, probably won’t matter. What a waste of $40 (yeah and i got it for cheap too and it still feel like i wasted the money). There are side plots in this story that, even to this day, I wonder what reason they have to be in the game at all. If you don't mind a mediocre story and utterly bad acting in an RPG game, u might find this somewhat interesting. And he really need to go to the muahhhh immediatedly (LOL) Meet the infamous Welch (this is the jap version, so it is not as bad)Įdge need to go real bad (nature call), i guess u can say he is on edge. Don't take my word for it, just look up cutscenes on youtube. If they haven't change the cutscene, better acting or something, i don't know how this game gonna be better? Let just say, what ever the developer is trying to do in this game for ex: conveying a message about world peace, anime humor, bravery, overcome hardship, friendship, heroic moment.they sure fail miserably. Not to mention everyone just over exaggerate every dam line they get, especially edge. the anime acting style is utterly the worst that i have seen in a game. The only redeeming point about it is the battle system. If casual gaming is not successful next-gen, they will try to gain hardcore gamers again, which will be harder, because by then they would have had lost a lot of their respect.Īnyways, i think u guys should rent it first before playing this one. The move by developers in creating not so great games is going to hurt them on the long term, the same goes to japanese devs trying to "westernize" their games. I really don't see the next generation of consoles been that successful unless they are specifically aimed at casuals, which IMO, would hurt the industry (since I think that gaming is supposed to take advantage of the best technology available). The 360 is way bigger in USA, and looking at the success of the Wii, everybody wants a pice of the pie, but I can assure that the causal gaming is temporarily.

I really thought that they switched to the PS1, because they wanted to make better and bigger games, and I really wouldn't mind at all the switch to Xbox 360, or Apple, or any company as long as they create better games, which is not happening.

Being JRPGs, I think their principal market is Japan, or so I would suppose, and the Xbox 360 is selling very poorly over there, therefore, the games have not had great sales.Īlso, Square Enix has been living on their laurels of their old franchises and making remakes, they have been seeking the quick money, instead of improving their IPs and creating new ones.

JRPGS are on the impression that they are going to die out because developers, especially Square Enix, have been releasing their games on the Xbox 360.
